Banoshtor is our shore...

Today, a few of us decided get out of the town and enjoy this summer-ish weather by the river, in the small town on Danube - Banostor, near Novi Sad.
We enjoyed the late afternoon by the river and I had that special opportunity to see how the light changes from bright and shinny to gloomy and blue. That particular summer afternoon/evening light inspires and underlines the lightness of being...Do you remember standing in the front of your building yelling: "Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum, can I stay out moooooore?" on summer vacations in elementary school? There is the light behind your building when you picture this scene. That light is the light I am talking about.

We finished our lemon flavored beers, packed, and suddenly felt that we need to stay on the shore for some more time. We just changed the place and drove away to the next village for a dinner. Night was surely on its way, and the taste of fish soup and sound of old songs on the radio of the old river bar united to make the evening perfect... (on the last photo above, is that pale fuchsia-white church of Banostor taken from that bar in Korushka)
And for the whole experience this is what we were listing in car. Love it!

The company I was working for constructed the new bridge in Belgrade. We went to see the construction site at the end of the March. Beautiful experience.

Here is the link for Build it Bigger about this piece of work. Love it.
-thanx to my friend DD-

I also made a small collections of workers photos, sky photos, Belgrade photos and so... Those will have to wait. These are just some of them. My favourite!

The Time Capsule

I had to finish some bureaucratic stuff in some old building downtown. I felt the boredom going down my spine. Word bureaucratic does that - so-rry
But it was easy. Mid-20 century style made whole process much more pleasant.

One Man Show

20.7.11 SonjaBajic 0 Comments

I just came back.
No band, just Mick Harvey
This man is a former member of the Bad Seeds.

Although it was Tuesday night (now it is already Wednesday morning) and I will have to wake up in 3hours,
we slid across that plain yesterday evening and went to Palić Film Festival on Lake Palić...

Just to hear him.

Stormy weather and tables around highlighted the warmth of his connection with audience. That is how I would like to hear Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Tom Waits. Just like that. Brilliant artist, brilliant performer, brilliant place and brilliant time spent on summer night like this.

mid-July

It is extremely hot these days. When you read books about summer: this is it. Summer from the books. Hot, no humidity, people are barely breathing and all you can eat is a giant portion of salad (with goat cheese).

We caught some air in the mountains almost 6 hours away south (Kopaonik). I desperately needed some rest, blue skies of nature and some meadows. We hiked for three days. And we ate a lot! And I am brand new! Although my skin is still turnip white, I have some healthy glow now.

Some inspiration waited for me around the web as soon as I came home, 'cause I proudly left laptop on desktop@home. Yup. Be proud of me! No computer for 3 days!
+beautiful, beautiful video named dark side of the lens
+new Kinfolk Magazine is out (volume one, actually) - guys who are working on this masterpiece are my favorite bloggers, like ever... you will enjoy - promised!

These small pebbles moved all the time by the force of the water. That was the spring of this small creek.

Kuglof romance

Few weekends ago, my friend Claudia visited me for the first time. Story goes: I met her in Oxford in 2002, I visited her in Lausanne in 2009 and she came to visit me this year. We had quite a time and enjoyed those few days on every level: we heard good music, we ate good food and we saw beautiful places.

Karlovci is one of my favorite places around. There's a famous wine fest in September, but honestly, not just because of that. Transcendental silence of a small town, mountains around and Danube just a few minutes away make it just a perfect place for living if you are asking me...

+ my good friend from Belgrade comes to Karlovci to buy wine. I would, but still, I am not a huge wine lover. If you are headin' there for a first time buy/try Bermet, the most famous wine sort around. There are many different tasted of bermet, but my favourite is the one from vinarija Živanović
+ visit Danube riverside. There are a few different cafés, but I would sit in the most shabby one with wooden banks and many fishermen around. For a true experience.
+ on the second photo here, is the Kapela Mira where the Treaty of Karlowitz was signed. My favorite useless fact about this topic is that there, for the first time was used round table on some congress...
+ as Claudia is not a wine admirer she went for a kuglof. My favourite tea time cookie. On linked site (if you use google translate) you can find plenty of different recipes for it. And I will join you for a tea break, definitively!

fast(ing) food

13.7.11 SonjaBajic 0 Comments

Wednesday is my day for fasting. Just to clean up my body. Raise my spirits. And 'cause of this crazy heat.
I eat brown rice, soy milk, fruits (apples are preferred but in summer, now-days, I just can not resist to consume all lovely berries in all lovely colors in which day come!)
Last Wednesday I made perfect frappe of:
+soy milk
+blue berries (I wrote black berries, haha)
+black currant
+ raspberries
+linen seeds
and I added some fructose just for my sweet tooth. Oh well...It will do me no harm. I use small kitchen mixer, the one called bar mixer (my favorite home appliance, btw) to mix it all and then I pour soy milk inside. Yes, it is super fast lunch! And a few leaves from my basilicum pot for decoration, and like salad, too :)

This week...I am not sure what I have in my fridge but some frappe will help me in refreshing these 40 degrees C days...Maybe with nectarines, squashed and soft...

+the last photo is from my weekend journey (not this weekend, but the weekend before) in Fruska gora mountain. I need something like that, I mean journey. Really. To relax and enjoy and do nothing and read books and watch documentaries and have fun and hit the town(s) and visit festivals...
